Tompion himself is probably most famous as the sire of one of America's leading sources of hunter breeding winners, Sir Thomson. Sir Thomson is undoubtedly one of the most prominent sires of conformation and International Hunter Futurity horses in North America, and is represented by both his direct offspring and his producing daughters. In 1997, Sir Thomson was ranked third by the International Hunter Futurity with offspring Futurity earnings of $95,355.50, just behind Castle Magic and Abdullah.
