Building Dreams . . . .

The Crooked Willow Difference

Crooked Willow Farms is the realization of the dream of Jami Jensen and Cameron Fitch to develop a premier Sport Horse breeding facility. First established in Evergreen, Colorado in 1991, the Farm moved to Larkspur, Colorado in 1998 in order to expand its operations and progress to achieving their dream. The result is facilities in two locations:
  • Larkspur, Colorado, the Training facility encompassing 90 acres.
  • Sedalia, Colorado, the Breeding and Farming facilities encompassing 1340 acres.
Their love of the Sport Horse and German Warmbloods has provided:
  • A full breeding facility
  • An advanced laboratory
  • The highest quality Dressage, and Hunter/Jumper training
  • Uncompromised horse safety features
  • Sponsorship and hosting of many annual horse events and clinics
The Farm currently has seven standing stallions, including Acord III, full brother to Acord I and Acord II.
Of significant note is the self-sufficiency of Crooked Willow Farms. All hay is grown on the Farm under carefully controlled conditions, irrigated from center pivots. Continual soil analysis is performed to ensure the quality and nutrient content. Straw is also grown on the farm and put up under the correct temperatures and moisture content to be used for bedding.
In 2003 Crooked Willow sponsored two horse shows and five clinics. The Farm can host a significant number of horses and has large outdoor, indoor and covered arenas.

The people (and horses) visiting Crooked Willow are struck by the safety features embodying the facilities. Barn design is characterized by:
  1. Oversized stalls with brick fronts which give the barns a very European feel
  2. Dutch doors and windows in each stall that allow in plenty of natural light and air flow
  3. High level of detail including tongue and grove trim and rubber paver inset walkways
Footing within the barns, outside, and in the arena ensures the safety of horses, handlers, and trainers. A Liberty horse exerciser provides both safety and innovation in maintaining muscle tone. For those who are considering building or renovating their equine facilities, Cameron would be happy to pass along his years of experience and design knowledge. Safety doesn’t stop at Crooked Willow Farms’ gates.

Transporting horses between events and horse shows has the increased safety of in-trailer video coverage monitored from the driver’s compartment. Cameron worked closely with the design engineers at Featherlite to build the highly customized horse van. Loading and unloading is featured by safety ramps. The flexibility in the design of the stall compartments allows transport in 6 box stalls, to 10 double stalls, and even an amazing 16 single stalls when necessary. Adequate water is carried for horses during transport from the Farm to remote events. When you see Crooked Willow at some of these events you will undoubtedly recognize our tenting.

Crooked Willow is proud to have on staff one of the country's top dressage trainers: Sue Halasz.

Whether for an event or to see the stallions, or to find the horse of your dreams, please come and take the time to visit and understand our dream.
